Do you know how to create a content marketing strategy? It’s very simple actually. Creating content in and of itself doesn’t require much skill or writing ability. If you have a few hours to sit down in front of your computer and write some simple words related to your website or blog, then you have in your possession the 1st step to create an effective content marketing strategy. Now the first thing that you have to know about creating content is that it’s super easy. There are a few routes that you can go to complete this process. And after the content is complete, all you have to do is market it. And I assure you that the process is super easy. As a natural to writing, creating content isn’t something that is hard for me. But if it’s something that you struggle with, fear not!
I want to give you a few ways that you can get original content, and then create a marketing strategy around them so that you get tons of new fresh traffic to your website or blog (or both). These methods are super simple and even a high school kid and do them (if they’re not lazy. And hopefully you’re not lazy also). With that being said, let’s jump into the first way that you can develop some content for your site:
1) Create it yourself
This is by far my most favorite method. I love this method because it’s 100% free! When you write your content yourself, you save money from hiring a freelance writer, and you save time because you don’t have to wait days for a freelancer to complete the content. And when you have a content marketing strategy that you’re ready to implement, time is crucial.
Now I always recommend that when creating content for your website, you should always strive to write at least 1,000 words worth of material. This ensures that you full expound on deep ideas – without having the reader to wonder how to implement something that you advise them to do. I would know, because I’m constantly seeing 400 – 500 word articles that tell you what to do, but not HOW to do something.
The more expertise you can demonstrate in your content the better. This is a way of proving yourself through your content, and it will be much easier for people to market your content for you – through content syndication. So if you’re the original author of the article or content that you produce, that’s the best route to go. However, it’s not the only route when it comes to creating a good content marketing strategy. Here’s you next option:
2) Purchase article templates
Purchasing article templates is a GREAT idea if you don’t have any writing experience, or if you’re only used to publishing resumes for the next $10 an hour job in your area. You have to know that great content marketing strategies are born from article templates. And you will find that they are easy to customize and use for your purposes. Some of the best content templates that you can find are on a website called “EzineArticles”.
When you get an article template, you give yourself an instant advantage over competitors who don’t know how to write. A lot of templates are strategically designed for the search engines, and give you hints and great ideas of what to write, where to put images and videos, and how to close with an effective author resource box.
Article templates can save your business, and it’s also a great way to further execute your content marketing strategy. Plus, you will be gaining the basic skills of writing each and every time you use them. It’s like practicing to become a world-class copywriter without having to hire one. Which leads me to the next method of implementing an effective content marketing strategy. Check this one out:
3) Outsourcing your writing
This is the preferred choice of successful entrepreneurs online. Some people get outsourcers from various sources. Some people find them on freelance sites, some people offer others the chance to be a “guest poster” on their blog or website – in exchange for the author to tap into the website owner’s traffic – and some people outsource their writing to professionals at an ad agency or SEO firm.
This can get immensely costly, but some people don’t have time to write content (as unbelievable as that sounds). And you also have to understand that you get what you pay for. For example, if you own a website about managing account portfolios and trust accounts, you don’t want to hire a $5 per 500 words freelance writer to convey the sincere emotion that you’re trying to evoke on your professional website.
I’ve found that amateur (and cheap) writers like this tend to use a “hypey” tone of voice when writing. In other words, don’t hire a writer who uses a lot of exclamation points and words in ALL CAPS if you’re selling funeral services. Can you imagine the disgust someone would feel about your website if their loved one died, and all you seem to care about is money?
I would know about the outsource writing game because I used to offer freelance writing services for others all around the world. I would get paid at a certain rate, have to write a certain amount of words around a particular subject and keyword, and have to submit it to the client in a certain amount of time.
Sometimes I’d be tasked to write 500+ word content articles for 20 different industries – all due within 24 hours.
Can you imagine that?
Nowadays I write for myself, and I write high quality content that I use for my own content marketing strategy. I vowed to never again sacrifice my intelligence for low wages just to “get by” in my internet business. And I don’t suggest you do the same either.
These are just some of the ways that you can get started on creating a great content marketing strategy. Now it’s up to you to put them into action. Good luck!
